Watch Him Play
“Jellybean, don't be so mean”
An amazing person, a phenomenal musician! Both sides of his brain, as well as the front and back, were working simultaneously! I cannot put into words the Love I have for Jelly, as I called him!
Born on November 19, 1956, he was a true gift to the music industry. Though few realized it at the time, the years would reveal his extraordinary character and talent. His remarkable drumming and guitar playing, along with his songwriting abilities, inspired admiration and left a lasting legacy.
Unfortunately, we lost “Jelly” on November 21st, 2025. From this point on, his Memories live on!

Garry "Jellybean" Johnson — November 19, 1956 to November 21, 2025. A true gift to the music industry whose legacy will never fade.

52 years of friendship, music, and brotherhood. Jelly and I worked on songs together — I engineered a lot of his early recorded hits.

Of course, if you don't know, now you know — Jelly was the original drummer for the exciting Funk R&B Band “The Time”!

The Jellybean Johnson Experience — "Put Some Jelly On It!" A single that showed the world just how much flavor Jelly had to give.
If you ever seen Jelly play, you are familiar with his signature hat. If you see him playing, he will have on one of his many Top Hats.
The iconic Top Hat — Jellybean's signature. Thumbs & Drums. If you ever saw him play, you knew that hat. It was as much a part of him as the music itself.
During the Time Band Masterclass Presentation at Sweetwater, Jelly showed his guitar skills in a very relaxed setting with his bandmate Tori.

Jerome, Jelly, Ronnie, and Popeye — brothers in every sense of the word. Celebrating life, music, and the bond that never breaks.
“Rest in Peace, My Brother, gone but will never be forgotten.”
Much Love!
